CNC Setter/Operator

Our client is a well-established engineering company based in St Leonards on Sea who specialise in making connectors, contacts, accessories, wires and subsea power cables for use in the harshest environments. A vacancy has arisen for an experienced CNC Setter/Operator to join their busy engineering team.

The ideal CNC Setter/Operator will have demonstrable experience of Setting and Operating CNC Machines, be able to follow engineering drawings and ensuring that parts are manufactured to the correct quality specified. As a CNC Setter/Operator you will be setting and operating first and second operation machines to accurate specifications, ensuring that components are produced correct to drawing and are delivered on time.

The Ideal CNC Setter/Operator will possess the following skills and qualities:

  • Previous experience in Setting and Operating CNC machines
  • Possess excellent time management skills
  • Ability to recognise and resolve day to day problems
  • Ability to read and follow engineering drawings
  • Be a strong team player

Your duties as a CNC Setter/Operator will include:

  • Setting and operating first operation CNC machines
  • Supporting with setting and/or operating second operation machines as required
  • Ensuring parts are to the correct quality specified on the drawing and routing instructions, in line with the fundamental rules of component manufacture
  • Assisting in the training of others as required
  • Understanding priorities and to work towards achieving delivery objectives
  • Maintaining a high level of house-keeping at all times in order that 5S 1 and health and safety standards may be maintained
  • Making small fixtures and grind tools when necessary
  • Ensuring all required maintenance is carried out in accordance to TPM plan
  • When required, to carry out TEOA/KAISAN activities
  • Adhering to company procedures at all times
  • Observing health and safety regulations as laid down in company procedures and Government legislation
  • Maintaining and improving time standards so that late jobs may be minimised
  • Carrying out any other reasonable tasks as may be requested from time to time


Highly Competitive Salary


  • Day Shift: Monday – Thursday: 8am – 5pm, Friday: 8am – 1pm
  • Morning Shift: Monday – Thursday: 6am – 2pm, Friday: 6am – 1pm
  • Afternoon Shift: Monday – Thursday: 2pm -10pm, Friday: 1pm – 8pm
