Commercial and Financial Controller

Our client is an international membership organisation that supports automotive engineers and the motor industry worldwide. They are currently looking to appoint an experienced, proactive Commercial and Financial Controller to take management responsibility for the organisation’s business, commercial and financial activities.

As a key member of the Leadership Team, the successful candidate will report to the CEO, work collaboratively with the Director of Member Services and directly line manage a team of three colleagues in delivering core operational and financial objectives.

The role will require an ability to think and work strategically, creating and delivering challenging plans and demonstrating leadership in the delivery and development of each objective aligned with this area of the business.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate time served experience and success against each of the following areas of responsibility:

Commercial

  • Leadership experience in delivering sales based marketing activities, demonstrably delivering against financial objectives, progressively developing existing initiatives, creating and delivering new revenue opportunities.
  • Delivery of commercial business support to all operational activities, including UK governance best practice, preferably within a membership organisation with large conference delivery experience.
  • Working in collaboration with the Director of Member Services to support the delivery of regular international, technical conferences and events.

Financial

  • Leadership experience in managing corporate finances, operational knowledge of management accounting and reporting and successful budget delivery.
  • Experience in setting and reviewing budgets, creating financial strategy and managing external support services such as accountants, auditors and investment portfolio service providers.
  • Line management of an in-house finance function/team and ability to report and converse at Board level.

Salary and reward package: 

  • Base Salary up to £55,000 per annum plus 10% performance-related bonus.
