Production Supervisor

Our client is an established production company, who have 20 years’ experience of producing liquid refreshments. A vacancy has arisen for a Production Supervisor to join their hardworking and dedicated team.

The ideal Production Supervisor will have demonstrable experience within the food industry, and be able to sustain and develop team working. As a Production Supervisor you will be responsible for the production on shift ensuring all Key Performance Indicators are met.

The Ideal Production Supervisor will possess the following skills and qualities:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience within the food industry
  • Possess relevant food manufacturing qualifications; including basic food hygiene and team leading
  • Experience with HACCP, allergens and food processing equipment
  • Be able to sustain and develop team working and team based problem solving
  • Have good planning and coordinating skills
  • Be a proficient user of Microsoft Office
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to deliver excellent customer service both internally and externally
  • Experience of leading and motivating teams of people

Your duties as a Production Supervisor would be:

  • Ensuring data recording takes place and is complete
  • Ensuring that all resources (plant, labour, materials and packaging) are in place to deliver the production plan
  • Controlling the yield and usage of all components to ensure standard weights/quantities are achieved at all stages of the process
  • Controlling all downtime to a minimum where issues are acted upon immediately and incidents of more than 10mins are reported to the Shift Manager
  • Providing information of issues to the Shift Manager to ensure that all opportunities for improvement are captured and implemented
  • Conducting effective handover to the incoming Team Leader by walking the area and reviewing the issues
  • Leading by example, ensuring safe and efficient work practices are maintained at all times to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice, Health and Safety, Customer Specifications and Company policies
  • Leading, motivating and coaching Production staff to achieve consistent levels of performance, multi-skilling and reassign staff during breakdowns, down times and staff shortages
  • Ensuring the End of Shift Summary Report and Juice Stock Count Summary is completed and any variances and deviances are managed and recorded accurately
  • Working with the Shift Manager to ensure GMP, Customer and other Audit actions are addressed and root-cause analysis is carried out to ensure long term sustainable solutions are implemented
  • Ensuring any maintenance defects are accurately logged and feedback provided to the Engineering Team Manager to ensure corrective action is taken
  • Regularly monitor performance against plan and update the Planning department on progress, to ensure breakdowns or deviation such as raw materials shortages are effectively managed
  • Regularly update the Production Manager on performance of the Process and Extraction Plans and Blend Yields taking corrective action where necessary
  • Ensuring Production start-up checks are completed and signed off for all areas, examples include Process Cleaning Records, Juice Stocks, Tool Box, Area Inspection Audits, Extraction pre-start checks, Mast PPT checks, CIP Micro Results
  • Communicate with the teams by delivering regular shift briefs with focus on quality, cost and delivering and gathering ideas for improvement
  • Ensuring non-conformance is challenged and counter-measures are agreed and implemented
  • Through the utilisation of lean manufacturing techniques, strive to exceed the Company targets on productivity, efficient and quality
  • Contributing to the improvement of working procedures by constantly looking for solutions to ensure the best productivity results and ensuring compliance with procedures are adhered to support delivery against plan
  • Actively promote the personal development of all staff
  • Appraising the performance through Personal Development Reviews and training opportunities of the team
  • Challenging underperformance of individuals and liaise with the Shift Manager to resolve
  • Ensuring training schedules are delivered, to maintain a fully flexible team
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and empowerment
  • Contributing to effective two-way weekly team briefings with all staff


£23,000 per annum


  • Shift Work
  • Week 1 (Mon – Fri)     6am – 3pm
  • Week 2 (Mon – Fri)     3pm – 12am
  • Plus 1 Sunday ever 4 weeks
