Early Years Nursery Manager

Our client is a privately owned and Ofsted registered playgroup based in Hastings, East Sussex. They are currently looking for an experienced Early Years Nursery Manager to join their dedicated and busy team.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a Level 3 qualification in Childcare; have demonstrable experience of working with 0-5 years in a high quality Early Years Setting as well as possessing an excellent knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and planning. You will also be able to lead and manage a team of staff, as well as being able to develop positive relationships with colleagues, parents and children. As an Early Years Nursery Manager you will be responsible for the day to day running of the Playgroup, as well as ensuring that they are complying with all current legislative requirements at all times.

The ideal Early Years Nursery Manager will hold the following skills and experiences:

  • Minimum of a Level 3 qualification in Childcare
  • Demonstrable experience of working with 0-5 years in a high quality Early Years setting, as well as supervisory experience
  • Possess an excellent knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and planning
  • Ability to lead and manage a team of staff and be a strong team player
  • Be able to develop positive relationships with colleagues, parents, children and outside agencies
  • Possess excellent communication skills
  • Be computer literate and have good administration skills
  • Have a high level of initiative and flexibility
  • Sound knowledge of child protection procedures
  • Possess a willingness to train and stay up to date with best practice
  • Knowledge of health and safety issues
  • Pediatric First Aid trained is desirable

Your duties as a Early Years Nursery Manager will include:

  • Being Responsible for the day to day running of the Playgroup and ensuring compliance with all current legislative requirements at all times
  • Ensuring that the setting adheres to the statutory requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
  • Ensuring the Playgroup conforms to the requirements of Ofsted, prepare action plan after an Ofsted inspection and work with the 'Local Authority Early Years Advisory Team' when required
  • Managing the day to day running of the setting, ensuring that the staff are supported to provide high quality integrated childcare and education
  • Regularly monitor and evaluate the quality of provision provided, ensuring policies and procedures, best practice and standards are maintained
  • Implementing and maintaining the Playgroups Equal opportunities Policy, ensuring all children, their families, staff, students and volunteers are valued and practice is positive and non-discriminatory
  • Being responsible as the Safeguarding Lead practitioner for the setting
  • Ensuring the Director of the company is informed of any situation that may have detrimental effect on the setting, including complaints
  • Supporting the director with the financial operations of the nursery
